Name:                       Special Event  (Sam)

Description:                Bay 16.3hh Gelding

Breed:                        Arabian Warmblood

DOB:                          27/9/95

Sam is out of an Arabian Mare by Genghis Khan, a warmblood showjumping stallion.  Sam has only had two previous owners; the breeder and then purchased as a three year old where he was ridden but had very few outings, as his owner started a family.  Consequently prior to vaulting, he had little exposure to the big wide world.  Sam’s lovely temperament enabled him to survive his crash course in dressage and jumping, as well as just learning to go places each week.  Sam has been with us for three years now and has assisted with the improvement of our vaulters, including our first A grade vaulter in many years.

Theme song:  What About Me!  Loves:  Being top of the pecking order.

Hates: Goats - they just don’t seem to understand.

Name:                      Petit Matisse (Mattie)

Description:              Brown 15.1hh Gelding

Breed:                     Warmblood

DOB:                       1/8/1987

Mattie is by Chris Chugg’s showjumping Stallion Skyhigh and has been a very successful mount with a varied career.  We are very fortunate to have Mattie in our club, and he took to vaulting the very first time, which was three weeks prior to his first competition in November 2004.  He is a real character on the ground and can have his little tantrums and always lets you know exactly what he wants.  His successes are too numerous to list.  He is an absolute pleasure to have around and is still teaching people to ride and vault.

Theme Song:  The Entertainer.  Loves: Gallop Hill.  Hates: being left alone.

Name:               Louis (Lord Louis)

Description:       Bay 16.3hh Gelding

Breed:               Clydesdale x Thoroughbred

DOB:                 4/01/90

Lord Louis commenced his showjumping career in Victoria and competed successfully in B grade throughout Vic & NSW.  His previous owners at Somersby Equestrian Centre used him for overseas clients and students and for riders rehabilitating after injuries.  His retirement from showjumping last year enabled his career change when he joined SVG in March this year.  By April he had his first start in C grade, and by June was competing in B grade and canter pas de deux.  In August this year Lord Louis carried SVG’s first C Canter team at NEqC’s Winter Warm Up competition; this was a first in SVG’s history.  His generous nature allows the SVG “leaping ladies” to experience the challenges and benefits of training team routines.

Theme Song: Thunderstruck.  Loves: Carrots.  Hates:  Being confined.

Name:              Bridgford Aviator (Santa)

Description:      Bay 17.1hh Gelding

Breed:              Holsteiner x Thoroughbred

DOB:                25/12/99

Santa was out of a showjumping mare and sired by Salute.   Until this year Santa has lived his life in Dubbo, competing at two or three dressage events each year and attended the local jump club.  He has managed to notch up 36 official points and recently won his first dressage test with us at Somersby Dressage.  He has the loveliest nature and is very inquisitive.  His extremely quiet temperament and sweet personality has enabled a fairly quick start to vaulting, although he still needs a lot of exposure.  We hope that Santa will be with us for many years to come and will continue to take our vaulters to higher levels.

Theme song:  Teddy Bears Picnic. Loves: Sniffing riders toes.  Hates: Being in for big surprises.
